A Horrible Day in Boston

Yesterday, April 15th, 2013 was a day that Boston, Ma. will never forget. My heart truly goes out to all who live there.

DEWALT DW735X 13" Two-Speed Planer Package

From Amazon.com

A Review

I purchased this planer from Amazon.com on November 28th, 2012. I have used it moderately since then.

So far I would give it 5 / 5 stars.

My top three features:

1) It's easy to use
2) It works great
3) I can plane edges as well as flat surfaces

What I don't like:

1) The dust port is 4" and I had a helluva time finding what I needed to adequately capture the high velocity dust and chips flying out. My local Lowes was useless. I bought every adapter they had and none of them fit. I ended up buying what I needed at Rockler.com  This is what I bought:
26660 Clear Flexible Hose - 1 foot x 4'' Diameter 1 1
23486 4'' to 2-1/4'' Hose Reducer (OD) 1 1
20871 Hose Adapter 1 1
47710 Dust Right® 4'' Quick Release Starter Kit 1 1
42254 Mini Gulp Dust Hood 1 1
26177 4'' Bridge Hose Clamp, Keyed, 5 per Pack 1 1

This package arrived today and was a breeze to set up. The hose clamps are awesome! The Dust Right 4" kit had exactly what I needed. The 1' 4" hose is high quality and perfect. Now I can hook it up to existing 2 1/4" hose on the shopvac I have now.

Now my planer is perfect!

That's a fairly short review. I'll add to it later but right now I have some boards to plane.

Bottom line, buy this planer now. Buy it from Amazon. Buy the package that has the infeed and outfeed tables and the extra blades included. Buy it now!

Cooper!

My new dog Cooper. Like all the rest of them he is a rescue dog. I've had him since July 29th, 2012. He comes from a home that didn't have the time, patience, or knowledge to give him what he needs. Being a Jack Russell he needs plenty of attention and affection. He also needs a big yard to run and play in. He was under nourished and on a bad diet. He's made an excellent turnaround and is eating normally now. He gets along with all the other dogs now too. Of course they all need to be watched over firmly and they are.

Cooper is very tall for a Jack Russell so clearly he is mixed somewhere. That's ok though, we love him no matter what. Bringing him into the pack has been a great experience for all of us. He is now comfortable and knows he has a permanent home.

We have kennel arrangements for all of them when Becky and I both have to work. The kennels all have water bottles and we leave the TV on to keep them company. They only have to be alone for a couple days a week since we both have different days off.

I have installed a dog door and all of them use it to go in and out as they please. The outside fencing is reinforced so no one can dig under it. We generally go out with them just to keep an eye out.

So welcome Cooper! Thanks for reading!
